Back to School
Senior year has begun. Today is the first day of my last "grade". It's strange, as a first grader it feels as if school will go on forever. Imagining your graduation is like trying to read a poster at the end of a very long dark tunnel. I took some comfort (as well as some bitterness) in knowing that there would always be one more grade after this one. One more desk, one more locker, one more teacher. After this year it's over, if I want it to be. I won't have to worry about parents seeing report cards or turning in homework or anything like that ever again. I don't even have to go to school anymore, I'm 18. If I felt like it I could change from part-time at Best Buy to full time and cops would drag me home to my parents by the ear or anything like that for playing hooky.
Back to school shopping was not the celebration it usually is. I now pay for many of the things I need with my own cash. Supplies included. I probably have enough clean paper to last me into college leftover from previous semesters. I've manage to keep folders in relatively good condition so instead of buying new ones I can just change the subjects on the front (it's expensive for me to buy new stuff because I won't settle for anything other than top of the line) now that my parents want me to buy things I'm begins to see my frugal side. As for clothes, Mom has always done a good job on that for me. For my birthday I got a $100.00 gift card to the mall. I could probably buy some new stuff but there's no need to. I have things for cold weather, and warm weather so I'm covered (literally!) I won't spend a dime of that till things get holey or I ruin them in the wash (Oh yeah, no growing out of stuff. I'm finished with puberty it seems) My shoes are the same ones I've had for three years. They look terrible. Really. However I do have one of those Dr Scholl's pads inside each so they're still relatively comfortable. I think the next shoes I get will be orthopedic. Or I still have the steel toed work boots in my closest. I will need some new notebooks for AP Chem and French 4. I filled those notebooks and then some
Little has changed at school, I've a locker on the first floor now near the boisterous ROTC room. Still a lot of hotties. Of course. The school has a 60% female ratio so that's not a surprise. Our classes seems to have been blessed with the most though, even freshman will admit that '05 has always had an unusual proportion o babes. Not that I'm complaining. Here are my new classes for this school year.
1. Computer Mastery
2. Honors United States Government
3. Jazz Band I
4. Advanced Placement Chemistry
5. Library assistant
6. Foods II
7. French 4 (francais, whatever)
8. Automotive Technology 4
9. Mythology
I also got a really good backpack. understatement, it's the best back pack ever made. It's gray and black and has tons of features (padded straps with ventilation, lap top pocket, cellphone and CD holder, key pouch, stabilizer platform etc....THANK YOU VICTORINOX and thank you B.B. for my discount from 60 to 33. NICE)
