Under Construction In Meat Space Too

As I may have stated earlier in my blog. Dad is trying to sell our old house. We discovered a major problem in the basement though. A leaky pipe has caused the ceiling to bulge significantly in one corner. Our solution is to remove the ceiling, have a plumber fix the pipes and then replace the drywall. We will probably purchase new Sheetrock and stuff from Home Depot and do it ourselves but someone else is going to have to take care of the plumbing of course, it's going to be a major ordeal. The last estimate we received was about $3,000 to make repairs. That's 3,000 we probably won't have until we sell the house. We won't sell the house if the buyer finds out about this problem. Quite a catch-22. On the bright side, the rest of the house is really coming together; it's the nicest it has ever looked so it is kind of a shame that we have to sell it now. All of the carpets have been steamed. Most of the walls have been repainted. We have a new refrigerator, oven, microwave, stove top and marble counter top. As for the outside, the wrought iron fence has been repaired and the new sprinkler system is doing a great job of keeping the grass nice and green. But along with the piping in the basement we also need a new roof. So yeah, lot of work ahead.
