Boxes

Today we drove to Manhattan to help Derrick move into his new apartment. Now that all his stuff is in there and Mom has helped clean up it really doesn't look too bad. The new fish tank is up and running too with flesh eating fish and everything!

19 Years Later

Today is my birthday, I went to school and work as usual but when I got home I opened presents and we ate stuff catered from Panera bread and had a cake. The cake is lemon, my favorite. I decided not to cut the cake or light the candles until everyone was home though, Liz was still out at the barn with her horse Jack. He is sick and the vet thinks he might actually die...so maybe I'll wait till tomorrow. I got lots of cool stuff: some CDs, and some school supplies (GREAT because after year of buying supplies every August for Elementary and High school I was just sort of recycling them by now) I even got one of those dry erase boards that I can hang in my new dorm room. I also got some new dressy shirts for work.

So this is it the last of the teens.....so far so good!

19 Candles

Is it possible to forget your own birthday? You betcha. My how times have changed, when I was younger I used to cross days out on my calendar until it was time for my birthday now I just sort of trip over it. After a long day at school and then work I came home to find a new computer sitting on the floor in my room. I've set it up now and it's great to be blogging again from my own room instead of the dark basement.

Mom is back from New York, she brought souvenirs for everyone including one of those I Heart NY shirts that I've always wanted. Real collector's item. Okay I'm tired going to bed.

Busy

Here's my to do list. Following class this morning, I need to write about some of the sociological issues in the movie we watched then I also need to finish up the story I'm working on with Olivia and e-mail that back to her.

Really need to have my car muffler replaced, and eventually (sooner than later) buy some new tires.

I had an appointment to meet with a the head of the engineering department on campus today. I'm not sure what exactly would have taken place during this meeting, I was kind of suckered into it by an advisor and Mom, of course. He's on vacation right now so fortunately it was rescheduled for the 8th. That should give me some time to plan exactly what this conference should entail. Getting into the school of Engineering freshman year isn't even on my agenda now, so I guess it will be just a meet and greet sort of thing.

I still plan on seeing my doctor today at 2:30 to have some lab work done.

Tonight I'm helping Dad move some furniture out of the hallway and our ginormus family room so that it will be ready for the new carpet we're getting on Friday.

Then after that I'm going to head to Kansas City to pick up Mom from the airport. Assuming her return flight isn't postponed again she should be arriving home from New York City today. My cousin actually paid for Mom to fly in so she could house sit and look after the kids while he was out for a couple of days.

Soundtrack Whore

The last four CDs I purchased were all movie soundtracks. I'm not a huge movie aficionado so this is a big deal for me. Soundtracks make up a significant portion of my music collection now.

A couple days ago I bought the soundtrack to The Day After tomorrow, The hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. I already owned the soundtrack to the original 3 Star Wars movies. Considering getting the LOTR one....That's the main thing I liked about that trilogy really. I thought the movies themselves were slightly dull and definitely overrated. WAY overrated.

As for regular albums, I'm planning to pick up the latest CDs by Gorillaz (Demon Days) and Coldplay--X&Y--just as soon as I pick up my paycheck. I have to wait until Friday when they take the checks out of the vault again.

I found this--->http://sorcerersjourney.ytmnd.com/ by accident while browsing YTMND.com. It quite possibly the funniest website ever, assuming you get the pop culture references and belong to the internet geek culture. HINT: Search for the best ones like the Moscow Dance or the one where Indiana Jones opens the arc of the covenant!

Ok time for bed. by bed I mean The Daily Show

Move Over Al Bundy

Tonight was the first time I actually got to make some shoe sales instead of just shuffle boxes back in the dim, dusty stock room. I must say I did pretty well, I made no where near the number of sales that the women's section gets, but then no one really ever does.

let me count the ways this job is better than my old one:
1. Time, though I always try to arrive in a timely manner sometimes I don't make it. The store allows me to be five minutes early or late as opposed to the old, rigid on-the-dot method.
2. $1.30 that's how much more money I make per hour
3. Huge ass discount
4. Slower paced; lines at the mall never extend out into the parkinglot and almost to Bed Bath & Beyond like they did at Big Bad Buy.
5. I can walk around. I don't have to spend hours standing in two square feet.
6. The mall is full of hotties. No explanation needed.
7. Lots of cool co-workers. The guy next to me in men's suits has the same last name as I do. Just a note.

I'm a lean mean sandal sellin' machine. So glad to be out of the women's stockroom with it's thousands of similar shoes and Italian names. If I had to read one more Gia-this or Mila-that I was gonna puke.

And Now For...

Time to dust off the old idea book and see what's on the agenda for today.

#Boxers; Briefs; Commando?
I dress for the occasion; it depends on what I am doing, whom I will be doing it with, and current weather conditions.
# Cats say the darndest things.
Not really. Mine just says meow. Probably means 'Hello' whenever I come home, and 'I'm hungry' when no one has fed her. She also hissed at me this one time when I tried to shave her, I never got passed the shaving cream part...purring is obvious.
# My life as a cartoon.
Would be similar to The Family Guy
# Pickles: Friend or Foe?
Definitely a foe. I think I made a post one time called No Pickles.
# How long can I go without a haircut!
17 days is pushing it, my head is shaved and I like it nearly bald.

Blogging For The Sake Of Blogging

Blog posts are like farts. The way I think is this: if you don't need to blog, don't force it.

And yet on the other hand I feel the need to blog on a regular basis. A few days ago a decided it would be cool to see what I did last year around this time. So I clicked one of the archive links only to discover nothing was there. Annoyance? You betcha. However, it's not as if I can't imagine how I spent that day. Chances are I just watched TV though there is the remote possibility that I did something amazing and was too busy to record the events. Or that I had some phenomenonal new idea or epiphany but was too lazy to type it out.

So from now on no slacking off. From now on...

Just for the record here is a list of things I did today.
Watch television
This is a list of SOME of the shows/movies that I watched--I'm really an addict--like the guy on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy
The Andy Milinokis Show
Into The West
Mystery Men
Pimp My Ride
Epoch
The Shadow
Slackers
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
That 70s Show
The 70s House
And in a few minutes I will be enjoying my favorite Sunday night animated programs so let me wrap this shit up.

I searched Google for things to blog about when you have nothing to blog about. I found this site http://www.blogideas.com/index.cfm?mode=ideas

So from now on if I don't have one of my own I'm taking one of these.

The Title In The Blank For The Title

I'm getting sick of all these people complaining video games aren't female-friendly. There are plenty of girls who are gamers. While gender biased marketing probably has a lot to do with the majority of video game players being male I think even if the design strategy of many games were changed to suit both male and female taste I think the industry would only attract a few more female players and loose a significant number of male ones. If they want to make more video games geared towards the dickless community that's cool; but leave some for us guys too!

Personally I like the look of women on games like DOA etc. It's not as if producers reduce Lara Croft's cup size, suddenly less women will want breast implants. With the exception of Mario--a fat guy who isn't particularly attractive unless compared to DK-- most video game characters are going to be in great shape because they are always running fighting villains. Can you imagine if all the characters in Mortal Combat were fat sweaty guys in wifebeaters and boxers instead of buff ripped-ass fighters? What the hell would there attacks be? Taco-Bell-Fart-Fatality? Video game characters are supposed to be fantasy. That's why Rinoa from FFVIII is a sexy chick who does not represent girls IRL (fat asses who just watch Laguna Beach all day) can you picture Rinoa with a spare tire and a bag of Cheetos under her arm? I think Resident Evil's Jill Valentine was pretty realistic. She wasn't insanely buxom but she was still hot. She looked like a lot of women who are actually in the military. It's not a crime to be attractive.

I'm sure even girls would like to play as an attractive character than an ugly one or a plain Jane. I have proof of this too. I used to play The Sims Online (one of the more popular games among the opposite sex) in this incredibly dull and monotonous game you begin by selecting physical attributes for your sim (the charter you play as) upon entering the game I noticed that most of the sims looked alike with perhaps a few differences in color of clothes. Why had so many players picked this face, body, and hair type? Simple. It was the most attractive combination and thereby the most popular. So don't try to downplay the sexiness of female video game characters. Guys, the largest audience likes them. Girls like them. The ones that actually are offended by them are in the minority. Talk about reducing the violence in games pisses me off too. In The Sims Online I remember being annoyed by fellow players on many occasion and thinking to myself “I wish guns were one of the items I could buy so I could just shoot this fucker” I haven’t played that game in about a year; once I sell it on E-bay I’ll use that money from the sell to help buy a kick ass game like The Matrix Online or Star Wars Galaxies (not Everquest though). Admit it, the main reason you liked to play the original Sims was so that you could lock them in an enclosed space and starve them to death in a corner. I had a whole lot full of graves which made building a house a little difficult. Building is fun too but only if you have the money available to do that. Making money with that game requires sims that haven’t been drowned or starved to death.

Sizzling

I'm not sure if it's the heat or the humidity, probably both, but the weather outside has become really unbearable really fast. It was so hot today that when I reached for my keys at the gas station they burned my hand, the metal on my sunglasses burned my face, and when I opened some chapstick left in my car in spilled out. I'm pissed off because the attire required for my job ensures that I will look like one giant sweat stain everywhere I go. However I finally figured out what ties are for, wiping off your forehead.

Just Like Real Sex...

Probably not worth the effort.

If you've been reading the entertainment or technology sextion, sorry, section of any online news site chance are you've heard about Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. An already controversial video game for PS2 Xbox and PC. The game received a 'M' rating but now people--conservative WASP moms--are pushing to get the rating increased to...Well, whatever comes after 'M'.

Why? A few days ago the PC version was discovered to contain hidden code that could be unlocked to reveal a minigame in which the main character has sex with his girlfriend. The games objective is to bring her to an orgasm. Later someone discovered the code for this game also exist in the PS2 and Xbox versions as well.

I'm a big fan of both GTA: III, Vice City & San Andreas. Also, I love to see naked women any chance I can. However accessing this code, especially on the PS2 version, seems as if it requires a lot of time, work, and knowledege. That's not something I'm willing to commit to (sorry, commitment issues) given the sex scenes in the game are not that graphic and you don't even get to see pussy.

Maybe one day if I have a lot of time on my hands I'll give it a try just out of curiosity, but at the moment I can't see that happening. Till then, the typical game itself is enough for me.

Outside The Box

Yesterday at lunch I told Dad about the time in France when a guy paid me two euros to eat some fish soup that nobody else cared for; wasn't the worst soup I've ever had but it certainly wasn't my favorite anyways. I told him what the amount in euros converted to dollars at the time was and his response was: "Gee, you must really like money" to which I nodded very enthusiastically (and was later mocked for). Friends continuously make fun of my penny pinching habits.

Anyway, I've come up with a great new way to make money. It's a business where people hire you to floss their teeth. Most Americans brush on a daily basis but lets face it, flossing is a pain in the ass and no one does it. Ever. This may come as a surprise to you (it did to me) but there are some serious health concerns that can arise from not flossing. So I'm thinking people could just visit a flosser like they do a barber or something. It could be a weekly visit or the flossers could come to your home daily. Dentist really don't take care of this since you only see them like every four months.

Also working on coffee with creatine or whey powder. That way you can enjoy caffeine and get pumped at the same time.....

Spent some time at The Central Bureaucracy today applying for a new SSN card. I hate that place. It's run by Vogons and full of smelly poor people and crying babies. Plus all the magazines are old and dogeared.

What The Fuck Do I Call This?

I was going to go with Unrest in the Midwest, but I can't because I'm not really sure what unrest is. Also, while technically in the Midwest this issue take place in only one state therefore not really spanning the Midwestern United States in its entirety.

Anyway, a former employer of mine was reccently fired; after auditing, many people now suspect the only reason she was dischared was because of racism. She was a government official but I'd won't say much more than that to avoid drawing visitors who might Google her name or the issue. It's a pretty hot issue at the moment; I might come back and add more on this later when the town scandal switches back to heated beliefs regarding homosexuality as usual.

If you've been watching the news (The Daily Show & CNN.com) you probably know about the whole Rove thing. He leaked top secret information and apparently that's a no-no. Now here's a guy that should be fired! At least he actually did something wrong. We can't excuse people from doing these sort of things just because they are in prestigious positions. I mean think about Clinton, he was in several 'positions' that would be considered a bad idea. Did anyone just say bygones just cuz he was the president? No. Though on the other hand everyone makes mistakes, that's why they put erasers on pencils. Also to chew on but yeah, mistakes too.

Dad and I ate at the Old Chicago near my future campus today. Another one of the reasons I'm looking foreword to living in a college town, better restaurants. The pizza fucking pwnz Pizza Hut and they even have Jones Soda there, how cool is that?

Went to work again and have made about $50 so far just by watching videos and sitting in a room with hot chicks. Not bad. Speaking of chicks, yesterday I subtly pushed for a Hepatitis B vaccine so I can feel more at ease screwing around on campus but Mom would not cough up the dough ($105-insurance) for another vaccination.

Back On Track

I got results back on my Soc 101 exam today. 94%, not bad, huh? But today's fun and excitement doesn't end there. To prepare for dorm life I received my bacterial meningitis vaccination today. When the actual needle went in I did feel pain but not that much. Looking back this is funny, but at the moment the needle pierced my skin I thought "Ow, oh hey. This doesn't hurt TOO bad." Then she pushed on the plunger and actually gave me the injection. I had forgotten about that part...hours later it is still a little sore but I'll survive of course; even more likely now because I'm no longer at risk from suffering a debilitating brain and spinal fluid disease.

Today also marked my first official day of employment since my erm, discharge, from Worst Buy. It was just a training session but I still received pay for my time there (a nice fat hourly wage). We got to watch interesting videos about theft, responsibility, accidents on the job and sexual harassment. They all seemed as if they were made in the 1980s. Actually, I'm pretty sure they were. This doesn't mean their important message was diminished though, of course.

LOL News

I've taken a break from studying to update my blog and read the fat Sunday local newspaper; hooray for comics!

But there are plenty of fascinating stories online as well, for example: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4688133.stm

Nomad Day

I spent nearly the entire day today traveling with Mom from Lawrence to Topeka to Manhattan and back again. There was stuff to be done in all three towns. During the long rides I passed the time by finishing up another story in my giant 6-novels in one hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy book.

We made new housing arrangements for Derrick because Mom was not satisfied with his choice.....I suppose sometimes her meddling is beneficial but it's still irritating. I discovered why the stereo is always muted in her car; she never puts her cell phone down . Ever. She'll make a call, close it then take it out less than a minute later. Now I know why when I turn my cell off for a week and I have 20 new messages 13 of them are from her. I hate calls that don't serve any purpose what a waste of time, it's annoying and distracting!

The three of us ate a cool restaurant that featured 9 different types of BBQ sauce. Fascinating. If you ever go there I reccomend the naked chicken tenders.

Never Watching Reality TV Again

Damn it! I just found out you have to be at least 21 to be on The Amazing Race. I've already sent in a tape for Road Rules but haven't heard anything yet. I'm pissed off because I wrote a script and had the camera already to go. The show is in it's 7th season now, I hope it makes it to a 9th or a 10th. I guess I'll try Survivor but I suspect the rules are probably the same as for The Amazing Race. Who knows, maybe MTV will reconsider. Or maybe someone stole my tape for it reached California.....God I hope not. That would be bad. If the survivor rules are the same then I'm stuck with Fear Factor; I'm just not sure I could bring myself to eat live cockroaches or drink yolk from uncooked ostrich eggs. Even for a million dollars I'm not sure I could physically handle it, but I'd try.

Not really interested in Real World or Big Brother, those kinds of shows are boring.

According to Marx,

My first exam in sociology was today. Notice my use of the word exam, it indicates that I'm in college now. It was easy by the way. I smell another 'A', coming up! However the exam did take longer to finish than I expected. Not because it was difficult but because I was continuously distracted by the unearthly sexiness of this girl in front of me. She had one of the best racks I've ever seen and it was totally exposed in all it's glory. "Heh heh. All riiight!" From what I can tell she's pretty bright too, there's just one thing. Married. Yep, never had that problem in high school. Who the hell gets married when they're like 19? There are still so many people you need to bone at that age. . .

I Heart The Mall

My job interview atDillards went well today. Actually that's an understatement, it went great! I actually got hired, I have a job again! My only question is why? Unlike most of the job interviews I have attended this one was set up in a group format with about 20 hopeful job-seekers and a panel of 4 managers who reviewed us. The group was made up of mostly women and a lot of stylish looking girls my age (nice). Of the group of 20 there were four guys, me some other dude who looked vaguely familiar, and two older men. They position they needed people in most was Men's Shoes, after the interview we waited outside while the panel discussed who they were interested in. About ten minutes later my name and the other guy's were called. We followed the manager back to her office and filled out the forms finalizing things. So I start work next week on Monday, although I'm confident in my abilities to sell shoes I'm not really sure why I was selected. After the interview I felt disappointed that I hadn't done a good job of expressing myself. I guess I was wrong. Who knows...

Anyway I finally get to say "in your face" to the guys at Worst Buy. My starting pa---not even counting commission--will be greater than my pay at Worst Buy was when I left. The only downside is that they have a dress code, I must wear a tie to work everyday. Maybe it really isn't a downside, I've always wanted a tie but decided against purchasing one because I would not have had any place to wear one. This should be a great experience, I'll save up a ton of money for next year as well as get an awesome discount at all the restaurants in the food court. Kick Ass. If this hadn't worked out I was going to apply at the pizza place where my Physics teacher works.

And maybe the tie thing will catch on and I'll start wearing a suit everywhere like on Stella.

Fingers Crossed

Just got invited to another job interview. With any luck I'll get hired and I'll be able to use all these gift cards I received in conjunction with my discount for some great savings. I wouldn't have much time to work before school starts but I could make at least another $200 before I move. I think it's worth it.

What was with all the clothing store gift cards anyway? Someone must think I'm a metrosexual. I am, but who told the family?

More Orientation

Thankfully I did not have Sociology today because I spent another 7 hours listening to speeches and moving towards the enrollment process. I had the opportunity to tour my dormitory but by the time I had the chance I didn't feel like sticking around anymore. I took a French placement exam hoping to skip over the intermediate stuff but I came just shy of the points required to take the more advanced class (ouch). In the end it didn't really matter, when I finally sat down and began enrolling in the computer lab I discovered all of the French classes were full, as were the Spanish ones. I considered taking Arabic but by the time I entered all the classes my advisor recommend adding Arabic would have put me in excess of 20. I didn't want to overload myself with too much in one semester, so maybe later. As of now the classes I am in enrolled in are: Intro to Engineering, Journalism 101, Literature & Composition,Intro to Archaeology, Math and Tae Kwon Do.

Also met lots of cool people today two guys that will also be in my dorm. Another guy who is a pre-Law student and I found out Stephen would be in the same hall has me on one of the floors beneath mine.

Getting Started

After I woke up I went to class then left for Lawrence to attend my orientation. It started it out interesting but soon turned into a tedious process. I saw Joe there but we didn't get to talk long because we were in different groups. I used my visitor pass to eat dinner in the cumpus' cafeteria. I had spaghetti, I have to admit I was impressed. The food wasn't phenomenal or anything but it was definitely a step up from high school cafeteria food. Although I hated high school I think I'm already starting to feel a bit nostalgic.

Aside from that stuff I spent most of the day reading the news, mostly the stuff o the London terrorist attacks. It's frightening to think had that happened a month earlier I might be dead right now, we spent a lot of time traveling on the Underground.

Another Day Another Idle Post

My first sociologyclass began today, it was supposed to start yesterday but it was postponed for unknown reasons. The professor, Dr.Zollwitz, seemed strange to me at first but I think I'm going to like him. I need to read the entire first chapter before tomorrow. I usually have to read things twice to really make them sink in, and I'll have to take good notes on specific parts. It's 9:30 already; Guess what I haven't done yet. Old habits die hard, let the cramming begin!

Olivia and I had what I'll call a lovers quarrel, yesterday though today she seemed to have forgotten about it. Interesting considering she had mentioned never speaking to me again. I think she just wanted to brag about London winning the bid for hosting the 2012 Olympics, and to talk about nachos. Wow 2012, ever since the movie Back to the Future I have come to think of 2015 as "the future". It's hard to believe we're so close. It's almost Jetsons time.

EUuuuuuuUHhhh

I'm out of ideas so that is what's going to have to pass for a title.

My Dad, uncle and I watched Assault on Pricint 13 last night. Good movie, I highly recommend it. Unless you're opposed to violence, in that case not so much recommend. They put a bullet in a woman head and show her bleeding to death in the snow and you can see one police officers guts seeping out. The real fun is trying to figure out who the traitor(s) is or are. Okay no point and trying to hide it, the answer is just about everyone. Nearly everyone is a bad guy, and nearly everyone dies. Except for the hot butter face chick in fishnets.

I also received information on my future roommate, his name is Jake Goldberg. That's pretty much all I know about him. That an e-mail address they gave me. I was expecting like a FBI profile or something. My e-mail was not listed for some reason. Some reason like Mom probably filled out the form wrong. Yes, Mom. You see I'm not allowed to fill out forms even job applications in most instances without her snatching it from my hands. Now she wants me to call the guy so we can properly exchange info. I say fuck that, I like surprises. So what if we both bring TVs or refrigerators??? At least then I won't have to worry about someone drinking my Jones soda or eating my Hot Pockets.

ID4

Celebrated in the time honored tradition of watching old blockbuster movies and marathons on TV. Ate lots of grilled foot, shot off exactly one roman candle. Turns out Rocky knows how to ring the door bell. When the firecrackers next door started going off he jumped up and rang it. I let him in and he ran in the house panting and looking terrified. I thought I owned a dog but apparently he's a pussy. Found out my ex-physics teacher now works at Pizzaz Hut. Probably the next place I'll apply.

God bless America, and god bless America's Drive-IN. Mmmm cookie dough...

Silence Not So Golden

I'm not an audiophile. You won't see me waste thousands of dollars tricking out my car with new speakers and stereos. I don't have a super expensive sound system in my house with all gold connections etc. You never hear me talk about a band, and then say "You've probably never heard of them" I don't own any records; at all.

But I'm really starting to miss my 20 disk CD collection that I loaned Liz to take to Arkansas. I forgot how much the radio usually sucks around here. Driving has become a chore where it used to be a delightful wild goosechase to spend moms money on the cheapest gas I can find.

I hope Liz returns soon, and GOD HELP HER IF THERE'S A SCRATCH. I'm very anal with my stuff if there is even the slightest mark of unknown origin there will be fucking hell to pay!

Starting Over

Watched Live 8 today, and In Good Company on DVD... and checked my voicemail every ten minutes. It's always the same "No new messages!" That could mean only two things: 1. UPS has not yet finished their background check. (yeah right) 2. They don't want to hire me, most likely because they can find someone who already lives in Lawrence and won't have to commute for a month; ergo, a more reliable employee. So I'm fucked. Back to begging for interviews again.

Alone

Not much happened today. Mom went to Wichita to continue helping my grandparents with their redecorating efforts. Marty and the step-sisters are in Arkansas. I watched Pulp Fiction on TV and took Rocky for a walk until the fireworks scared him and we had to come home.
